Plentitude Baptist Church
"Where You are Family"

Tommy Freeman, Pastor: (478) 986-5865

Things I think about. . .

Can you feel it? That chill in the air that says, “summer is over and fall is here”? Can you see them, the leaves turning? OK, so it’s still sweltering and the only trees changing colors are the ones that didn’t get enough water or got too many pine beetles. But it is time for school to start again, like it or not. And I’m looking forward to fall.

We’ve had an exciting summer. Progress on the Family Life center has moved steadily forward (we love A/C). We had a church full of kids in VBS (and a record number of workers) and a hard-working mission trip, all at the same time. Our youth had a great week at BigStuf and served in our own community. We have seven waiting to be baptized and God is continuing to bless our ministries at Plentitude.

As school goes back into session, remember to pray for all those who will be serving there. We have several teachers, paraprofessionals (don’t miss Linda’s great news in her article), volunteers and School Council members who continually show God’s love to our community and its children. Our Gideon representative has asked us to pray that doors would be opened to distribute Bibles in schools in Jones County. Right now they are not allowed.

God says be ready to speak for Him “in season and out.” So be it summer or fall--blistering hot or refreshingly cool. Remember those who minister around us and look for opportunities of your own.

Your Pastor,

Tommy

A note from your Children’s Minister:

We have started a new series in both the Older and Younger King’s Kids Morning Worship Services. The series is in a game show format based on Luke 12: 34, which says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Your children are learning what it means to store up treasure in heaven through these weekly themes: A Trusting Heart, A Respectful Heart, An Enthusiastic Heart, An Appreciating Heart, A Serving Heart, An Understanding Heart, A Responding Heart, and An Eternal Heart. Come join us.

We have several positions to fill and opportunities to serve in our Children’s Ministry area for the new church year beginning in September. If you have a true heart for working with children from birth thru 6th grade, let me know. Also, please tell me what areas interest you most and what age group you would work best in. We need Nursery workers, some helpers in our Sunday School classes, King’s Kids Older & Preschool Morning Worship workers, G-Force small group leaders, etc. I have a sign up list in the Vestibule and also in the Fellowship Hall for people interested in working in the Children’s Ministry. God has blessed our Children’s Ministry and we want to continue to follow His direction to reach children for His glory. Our Children’s Activity Team will be meeting September 14th @ 4:30 to make plans for the upcoming year.

Finally, HALLELUAH, PRAISE THE LORD!!! God is soooo good! We have all been praying that I would be able to work at Dames Ferry as a Paraprofessional for many reasons. Well as of July 24th this prayer was officially answered. Not only will I be working with a very special lady, “Mrs. Gloria” and other special ladies in our church but I will be able to be in contact with our children and those in our community. I can see so many blessings coming from this “job” because it fits right in with the calling God gave me to minister to the children. I want to thank all of you for your prayers during the last few months. My life has gone through many changes. I can honestly tell you that you have to depend on God totally to bring you through any situation. I ask that you continue to pray that I will stay in God’s will to serve Him wherever He wants me.

Remember, God loves you and so do I!

Linda Nobles, Children’s Minister
